At Quality Professionals Career Center, students in the Medical Assisting program will develop a strong foundation in healthcare practices, focusing on both clinical and administrative skills. The program covers key areas such as:
Human Body & Medical Terminology: Students will gain a fundamental understanding of the human body, its systems, and functions, while learning medical terminology related to anatomy and physiology. This knowledge will help them accurately communicate in the healthcare environment.
Clinical Procedures: Students will learn to perform and document routine medical clinical procedures, adhering to current office protocols. They will develop proficiency in tasks such as taking vital signs, assisting in exams, and performing lab tests.
Medical Emergencies: The program will prepare students to respond appropriately to medical emergencies, ensuring they can act quickly and effectively in situations that may arise in a medical office.
Patient Communication: Students will be trained to effectively explain exams, diagnostic procedures, therapies, and insurance requirements to patients, ensuring clear communication and patient understanding.
Legal & Ethical Standards: The importance of patient confidentiality and legal/ethical standards within the healthcare field will be emphasized. Students will learn how to maintain professionalism and comply with HIPAA and other regulations that safeguard patient information.
